Anthony V. Barbiero
Anthony V. Barbiero is of counsel to the firm, providing representation to members of the numerous municipal employee bargaining units which the firm represents in Westchester, Rockland and Orange Counties. He is experienced in multiple aspects of general practice, including real estate transactions, wills, trusts, criminal practice and general negligence.
Mr. Barbiero was one of the founding shareholders of The First Rehabilitation Life Insurance Company of America, and sat on its board of directors for 30+ years. He was also a founding shareholder of Administrators for The Professions, agent for Physicians’ Reciprocal Insurance Company, which brought claims made Professional Liability Insurance to the State of New York.
He was in general practice from 1965 to 2002, after which he continued his general practice and served as claim counsel and court monitor for Physicians’ Reciprocal Insurers until 2016.
Mr. Barbiero attended St. John’s University and received his LLB from St. John’s University Law School in 1965. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in December of 1965. He was thereafter admitted to practice in both the Southern and the Eastern Districts of New York in 1976.
He has litigated matters in the New York State trial courts and argued appeals in the Appellate Divisions First Department, Second Department and Third Department as well as both Circuit Courts of Appeals. He has also established precedent in the New York State Court of Appeals.
At present, in addition to conducting his practice and providing his services to the firm, Mr. Barbiero is a New York State Certified Mediator and sits as a Small Claims Arbitrator in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
